Employment Opportunity at Vauxhall Golf and Country Club
We are a nine-hole golf club that has wonderful grass greens, a challenging layout with four sets of T-boxes and a membership of about 100.
Our head greenskeeper will be responsible for keeping the course in tip top playing condition. They will have a staff of 2 or 3 workers and will need to play an active role themselves in daily mowing and irrigating. They must be willing to work with a very proactive group of board members and will work directly with a greens committee of 3 or 4 members.
Knowledge and experience in the following areas would be a great asset.
- Use of, maintenance and repair of small machinery such as mowers, golf carts, etc.,
- Knowledge of irrigation and ability or willingness to fix small water breaks and replace sprinkler heads.
This is a 7-month contract position that begins approximately April 1 and ends October 31. Salary is negotiable and dependent on the experience and expertise of the individual.
Please send applications to Henry Tolsma at email@example.com or Dale Cummings at firstname.lastname@example.org. Should you want more information contact Henry Tolsma at 403-654-8023.
$75.00 per person – Cash Payout
This is our inaugural try at this event. It is a four person scramble that can consist of men’s, ladies or any combination. It will be 18 very tough holes that will test all skills. The course will be set up to play very long and difficult with interesting T-boxes and pin placements that might not fit the rule of legal. All players will being teeing off from the same tees regardless of age or sex. It might be challenging but it will be a lot of fun. Plenty of refreshments will be available throughout the day and believe me you will need a shot or two once in a while. A steak supper will follow with all prizes being cash. Deuce pots will also be paid out to those who choose to pay in to that.
Teams will be handicapped so please let the clubhouse know your players handicaps when you enter.

The course is in excellent shape and will be a joy to play for any teams from out of town. Call the clubhouse to enter.

If you cannot make it the first night we can still get you on a team. Leagues can be for all levels of golf, beginners included and is a great way to meet new friends and have a wonderful social evening. NAPA with Henry Tolsma leading the way will be looking after men’s league. Sherry Johnson and the Par Tee girls will ensure that the ladies have a fun, fun year.
Welcome to another year of golf at the Vauxhall Golf and Country Club. After delaying our original opening date due to weather we are now open. The course came through the winter fairly well but we did have some damage on the north side of the ditch due to the high winds and blowing dust. We have been working hard to remove the excess soil and get the course in playing condition. A couple of rule changes on our course are taking place this year. The tree line along #1, #2 and #3 are now lateral hazards marked by red stakes. Previously these were out of bounds. You may go outside the treeline into the hazard area to hit your ball without a penalty stroke (please don’t go into the crops and please don’t drive your cart there), or if your ball is lost or unplayable in the hazard you can play the lateral hazard rule and only take a one stroke penalty for a drop in the rough inside the treeline where the ball last crossed the treeline boundary. We have also added a local rule that if your ball lands on a root you may have a free drop one clublength no closer.
With Covid for the most part out of the way we are looking forward to adding some of our tournaments back. Our first major one is our Rusty Swing Pig roast which takes place on May 28. This is our main fundraiser for the year so we are hoping to get 18 to 20 teams entered. If you want to ensure a spot, enter early. Other tournaments we are working on are our senior men’s and senior ladies scrambles, men’s and women’s scrambles and a new Open scramble called the “Tough as Nails” tournament. Watch for the advertising of these. We also offer half price golf and carts every Thursday and this year, in conjunction with Canada Day and Vauxhall’s Anniversary celebration, we are offering 18 hole of golf and carts for $100.00 per foursome on July 1st and 2nd.
Memberships – single, couple, family and corporate are available to purchase at the clubhouse. Rates are posted on our web page. If you are not sure if you want a membership try purchasing a punchcard to help you save. We also have a rate on a yearly cart rental that you may be interested in.
Our annual general meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 15 at 7:00. It will take place at the clubhouse. All members or just those interested in golf are welcome. Bring a friend and some ideas. Hope to see you there.
The draw took place at the clubhouse with some
